Dilshad Garden : Student to be shown test script

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has ordered a Delhi school to disclose the answer sheets of a Class IX student who had failed in his annual paper this year i.e. 2007-2008.

Moshin, a student studying in class IX of Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Dilshad Garden (East Delhi), failed in three of the six subjects in his annual exams.

“It was unbelievable that he failed in his class promotion examinations. My nephew had said he had done well. He was not even given his report card,” said Arif, the boy’s uncle.

On April 1, Mohsin filed an RTI application requesting the school to disclose to him the marks obtained in all six subjects.

“I also wanted to know that even if I failed, why was I denied a report card,” said Mohsin.

He also sought information on the pass percentage of Class IX and the rules for granting grace marks along with details of students who were given the same.

The school did not respond but, after one month and eight days, it finally agreed to provide the information on the order of the commission.

An RTI application requesting the disclosure of marks in all six subjects was filed by him. He also sough the details of teachers who had carried out the evaluation process of the answer sheets, the pass percentage of Class IX and the rules for granting marks.

In reply to the RTI application, the CIC also asked the school to disclose the answer sheets of all his classmates.
